April 14th is the anniversary of Titanic’s collision with an iceberg in the North Atlantic. One can’t absolve the sailors from lack of vigilance because the accident happened, but it’s important to know their situation and expectations.

Some know the inadequacies of the world temperature data. Few know the degree of manipulation and corruption of the data done to prove the 20th Century temperature increase was unnatural. It completely undermines the scientific claims of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
The Impact Group observed that Canada collects "less climate science data per-square-kilometer of any other major country." Anne Thompson <a href="<a href="http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/02/13/oh-canada/" target="_blank">blames</a> the political government, but it was the bureuacracy of Environment Canada and the IPCC that caused the problems when they decided to use science for a political agenda.
Billions of taxpayers dollars are wasted on politically motivated climate science, most of it on buying and running computers incapable of modeling global climate. They're incorrectly programmed so a CO2 increase causes a temperature increase to fulfill the saying "Garbage In, Garbage Out" (GIGO).
Note: This is the original of the article that appeared as an abbreviated op-ed in the National Post. H.L.Mencken said, “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence...
Growth of bureaucracies is a hallmark of totalitarianism. As Mary McCarthy said, “Bureaucracy, the rule of no one, has become the modern form of despotism.” The power behind Barack Obama doesn’t care if he is a one-term President. Total government control is a far more important agenda than any individual political career.
Science must have accurate and adequate data; without it, results are meaningless. Inadequate data seriously limits climate research, but scientists and governments who manipulate it for political goals make it impossible. This occurs because most government weather and climate agencies work to create and confirm the results of the IPCC.
“All this was inspired by the principle – which is quite true in itself – that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily…” ~Adolf Hitler
The surface of the Earth is similar as the interface between the atmosphere and the underlying surfaces. Accurate measurement and understanding of processes are critical to what is happening in the atmosphere, underground and in the oceans. Unless we understand the dynamics across the interface, we will not know what is going on above and below the surface. Surface stations aren't measuring what is necessary for understanding changes in weather and climate. But none of this is important to the IPCC, who only wants the results to support the political conclusion.
Traditionally, the older scientists held to the prevailing wisdom and were challenged by the new, skeptical graduates looking for wider answers. In climatology, the opposite has happened. The so-called skeptics challenging the prevailing wisdom are the professors who have researched and taught the subject for 30 years or longer. Their knowledge is much wider than that of the new young scientists because climate science has stagnated for thirty years.
